Shari Rabin at the Greenfield Summer InstituteThe Jewish South

Based on the play by Alfred Urhy, the 1989 Oscar-winning film Driving Miss Daisy tells the story of a white Jewish woman and her relationship with her Black chauffeur against the backdrop of the bourgeoning Civil Rights movement in Atlanta. In this talk, Shari Rabin will use the film as a jumping-off point for considering the complex history of southern Jews and the movement for Black civil rights. Please join the Greenfield Summer Institute in welcoming Shari Rabin, author of The Jewish South
